Post 5: Fanimecon 2015!

One side of the 2 Hakuoki posters that I bought. *sigh* so handsome!
Fanimecon 2015!

I went to Fanimecon 2015 with my friend last Saturday.

We had planned out a schedule for the day, but we ended up not following it once we got there. This seems to happen when the two of us go to cons together...I think it's still nice to make a plan even if we don't follow it.

My friend wore her Shingeki no Kyojin cosplay again. She cosplayed as Mikasa this year and the year before at Fanimecon. She's had some difficulties with the belts and I think she's kind of tired of her cosplay now...I must admit that the belts look really difficult to deal with and make it look right. I didn't cosplay, but my friend offered to lend me one of her other cosplays for the day. I wanted to be comfy so I just wore my favorite school sweatshirt, cargo pants, my favorite hat, and comfy blue athletic shoes. Plus, I emptied out my school backpack for the day to use to hold all of my goodies.

When we got there, we entered the line for registration. For my badge this year, I got the cute fox mascot! This was similar to last year because last year, I got the cute penguin mascot. Hehehe~ My friend ended up getting the girl mascot for her badge. This happened last year, too. She was disappointed because she really wanted to get the guy mascot this year. Oh well...

Next, we went to the Farimont hotel to watch a cosplay panel with Madoka Magica's characters. My friend and I have both watched the anime and we enjoyed it, so I suggested we go check out this panel. When we got there, it was relatively empty and it seemed like people weren't really enjoying it. The people who seemed to be enjoying it were the people who got to ask questions to the cosplayers and the cosplayers themselves. I thought the panel was okay, but the people cosplaying the characters were talking kind of quietly. I couldn't really hear much in there. My friend looked kind of bored, too, so I asked if she wanted to just go to the Dealer's Hall. We left and we went on our way back to the convention center.

We lost our way and we had to consult my friend's phone for directions. We saw cosplayers and kind of just followed them until we reached the convention center again.

Finally back in the convention center, tired from walking, and sweaty from the sun, my friend and I had our lunch break. We ate chicken empanadas that her mom made (her family has a delicious Argentinian restaurant!) and drank water. I ate some honey nut cheerios that my mom packed me earlier. Thanks for the lunch, mama and my friend's mama!

Then, we decided to head to the Dealer's Hall. The Dealer's Hall is always my favorite part of cons because I don't get to buy anime merch that often. We went to the entrance but were told to fall in line. We didn't even realize that there was a line! The past few years that we've gone to Fanimecon, there was never a line to enter the Dealer's Hall. So we found the long line and waited to reach the entrance. While in line, I encountered a masked person in green. I didn't realize it at the time, but it was actually a senpai of mine at school! He told me it was him at the con a week later...Man, I knew that voice sounded familiar!

We eventually reached the Dealer's Hall and it felt like heaven...I love seeing all of that anime merch in one place! :) My friend and I spent HOURS in here. We spent the rest of our day in this room.

The two of us wanted to go into the Artist Alley, too, so we left the Dealer's Hall and tried to find the line for the Artist Alley. We went into a line thinking it was for the Artist Alley, but it just led us back to the Dealer's Hall. Honestly, we didn't realize it was for the Dealer's Hall. There we were again...in the Dealer's Hall!

In the Dealer's Hall, I bought lots of stuff and of course, spent lots of money. I had saved up for a while and was really excited to buy stuff. So here's what I bought:

  • 8 volumes of manga (Kamisama Kiss vol. 15, Tegami Bachi vol. 14, 15, 16; Sumomomo Momomo vol. 5, Dengeki Daisy vol. 5, and Love*Com vol. 11, 12); I got 2 free Bleach posters from the vendor that I got the manga from :)
  • 2 small Hakuoki posters (now I have 4...man, I just love the art in this series!! there's so much beautiful boys in here...)
  • 1 small laminated Psycho Pass poster (Kogami and Makishima!! Ugh, they're sooo handsome!! I can't get over how sizzlin' they are, seriously.)
  • 3 Haikyuu!! charms (2 for my older sis who loves this series: Sugamama and Kuroo; 1 for me, I also like Haikyuu!! but my sis is probably more obsessed: Aone (with bear accessories...aww!! so cute...)
  • 1 Psycho Pass postcard for my friend who also likes Psycho Pass (I wrote a message on the back for her and I also gave her my extra Bleach poster; it was worth it because she loved them and she gave me a hug! :3)
  • a small pink alpaca for my sis (she loved it~)
  • a squeaking small yellow duck (I LOVE THIS. oh ma gee. D: it's really cute and I love how it squeaks)
My friend took a while to find stuff that she wanted to buy. In the end she bought a Sword Art Online wall clock and a Free!! long sleeved t-shirt. She wore the shirt to school the following Tuesday. I laughed. She asked why. I just laughed. Hehehe...

We rode the train back home. We got free Taco Bell coupons from our school so we both went to Taco Bell and got a Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos Locos taco for ourselves. Mmmmm...it was really tasty!

We went our separate ways and I walked home. On the way home, I bought some calamansi juice at a store and saw a male duck outside. He had beautiful feathers.

I got home around 7 PM or so. My parents texted me a lot. They were really relieved when I finally got home.
It's Aone! Isn't he cute? :)
More luscious Hakuoki posters. Isn't Saitou just so dreamy? Ah...

Here's the manga that I bought. They're on my bookshelf in front of the rest of my manga.
This is the free Bleach poster that I got. It's now on one of my mirrors.
This is the very cute duck that I bought! It's in front of my freshman geometry project. Hehehe~
So there you have it. My Fanimecon 2015 experience! :)

Post 2: Update on my blog

I've decided to make my blog a combination of 3 of some of my favorite things: anime, manga, and food!

I will continue to review recipes and post recipes.

In addition, I will write my thoughts on manga I read and anime that I watch.

Food, manga, and anime are things that I want to share with other people. :)

Risa and Otani from the anime "Lovely Complex."
Aren't they cute?

Post 1: Introduction and Mashed Potatoes

Hello, my name is Hannah and today, I decided to start a blog.
I've been planning to make a blog since last year, but I've always put if off. Until now.
I plan to post recipes and reviews on restaurants, food products, kitchen machines and gadgets, and other people's recipes.
This blog has no set posting schedule yet. For now, I plan to post every time I have something I want to write about.
To start, here is a mashed potato recipe that I used in my foods and nutrition class at school!
So smooth and luscious... :)
Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients:
  • 4 russet potatoes, washed, peeled, and quartered
  • 16 cloves of garlic, peeled
  • half cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 and a third cup of milk, heated
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of salt
  • salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
  1. Fill a large pot of water about three fourths of the way full. Add a heaping tablespoon of salt to the water. Turn the heat on high. Set up a colander in the sink.
  2. Place all of the potatoes and garlic in the pot once the water starts boiling. Boil the potatoes for 20 to 25 minutes. The potatoes and garlic are ready once they can be easily cut with a fork.
  3. Heat the milk in a microwave safe bowl or cup for 2 to 3 minutes. Heat the milk in 30 second increments and check the temperature every time. The milk should be warm.
  4. Remove the pot of potatoes and garlic from the stove top. Drain the potatoes by carefully and slowly pouring them out onto the colander in the sink.
  5. Return the now drained pot of potatoes and garlic to the stove. Dry the mixture for 3 to 4 minutes on low heat.
  6. While the pot is still on the stove, add the butter. Stir all the ingredients together in the pot.
  7. Add the warmed milk to the pot. Mix very fast until the milk is well incorporated with the rest of the ingredients. The potatoes should be smooth and soft.
  8. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve the potatoes in a large bowl or in the pot. If desired, garnish with chopped green onions or your favorite seasonings.
  10. Store leftovers in a tight container.
This recipe fed my 5-person family well. My parents and my grandma really liked my potatoes.
As for my sister, though, she said they were okay. She's always been the one picky eater in our family...Oh well! More for the rest of us! :D
